Importance Of Jummah

Importance Of Cleanliness For Friday Prayer

Because in Friday Prayer a comparatively large number of Muslims gather in a big place, so Islam emphasizes on the physical cleanliness as well. Prophet (SAW) said. "A person who bath on Friday, cleanses himself fully, uses oil and perfume; then goes to the mosjid early in the afternoon takes his place quietly without pushing or disturbing people; then he prays (optional prayer as much as he was able to pray); then sits quietly listening to the Khutbah, he will be forgiven his sins between this Jumah and the next Jumah."(Bukhari)

IMPORTANCE OF GOING EARLY TO FRIDAY PRAYER

On Friday it is more rewarding to get ready quickly to go to the Masjid.

Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, "On Friday the Angels stand oust the door of the mosque and write down the names of the people in the order in which they enter the mosque for Friday prayer. The first group of people who enter the mosque get the reward equivalent to that of sacrificing a camel, the people who enter the mosque after them get reward equivalent to that of sacrificing a cow. The people who enter the mosque after them get reward equivalent to that of sacrificing a ram and the people who follow likewise get this reward of a chicken, egg and so on there is a gradation of rewards for the people as they enter. The angels keep writing the names of the people as they enter the mosque until the Imam sits down to give Khutbah. Then the angels collect their registers and sit and listen to the Khutbah."(Bukhari, Muslim)

LOVE in Hadith 06

Whoever loves for Allah's sake, hates for Allah's sake, gives for Allah's sake and withholds for Allah's sake has a perfect faith."(Abu Dawud)

LOVE in Hadith 05

A man came to the Prophet (SAW) and asked him "O Allah's Messenger, tell me of something I do to win Allah's love and people's love." The Prophet answered "Do not love this world, Allah would love you and do not have a longing for whatever people have, people would love you."(Ibn-Majah)

"None of you will truly believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself." (Al-Bukhari)

LOVE in Hadith 04

A strong believer is better and more loved by Allah Almighty than a weak believer , although both bear goodness. Thus, seek eagerly what benefits you the most and seek Allah's help. Do not show weakness in your struggle and if something bad happens to you, do not say "If I had done so and so, then such would not have happened", but say "it was my destiny and Allah has allowed what He wished", because the word "IF" in this context would open the door for Shaytaan to work on you.

Hadith About LOVE 03

Allah Almighty said "I am as My servant expects Me to be. I am with him if he remembers Me. If he remembers Me to himself, I would remember him to Myself. And if he remembers Me in a gathering, I would remember him in a gathering, which is even better. And if My servant draws near to Me by a hand's span, I would draw near to him by an arm's length and if he draws near to Me by an arm's length, I would draw near to him by a fathom's length. And if My servant comes to me walking, I would go to him speeding."(Al-Bukhari)

Love in Hadith 02

"Allah Almighty said: "My servant draws near to Me with nothing more loved by Me than the acts of worship that I have enjoined upon him. My servant continues to try to draw near to Me with more devotion, until I love him. When I love him, I will be his hearing with which he hears, his sight by which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, his feet on which he walks. When he asks Me for something, I will respond and when he takes refuge in Me, I will grant it to him. I do not hesitate in doing anything I intend to do as much as I hesitate in seizing the soul of My faithful servant; he hates death and I hate hurting him. But death is a must for him."(Al-Bukhari)

"If Allah would love his servant He would call Archangel Gabriel and tell him "I love this person, therefore love him." And Jibraeel would love him and call out in the heavens "Allah loves this person, therefore love him." And the inhabitants of the heavens would love him. Then he would be embraced by the people of this world. But if Allah would abhor his servant, He would call Jibraeel and tell him "I abhor person, therefore abhor him." And Jibraeel (AS) would abhor him and call out in the heavens "Allah abhors this person, therefore abhor him." And the inhabitants of the heavens would abhor him. Then he would be abhorred by the people of this world."(Muslim)

"Give gifts to each other, as this will make you love one another."(Muslim)

Believers Love For One Another

Love is one of the greatest blessings God has bestowed on humanity.
God has created human nature in such a way that a person will take pleasure from loving and being loved, from friendship and from intimacy.
Being with people who live by the moral values of the Quran, enjoying love and friendship with them, brings a believer greter pleasure than many other blessings.

Therefore, the Paradise that God has promised to His servants whom He loves and with whom He is well place of extraordinary beauty in which true love, friendship and intimacy will be experienced with enormous joy forever. The information God provides about the life of Paradise in the Quran, always refers to joy, friendship, love, conversation,. pleasing words and peace. Everything that might prove an obstacle to love and friendship has been kept far removed from the people of Paradise.

In one verse, God has revealed that He will strip away any rancor in the hearts of the companions of Paradise:
"We shall strip away all rancor that is in their breasts; and beneath them flow rivers; and they will say, 'Praise be to God, who guided us to this; for we would surely never have been guided if God had not guided us. Verily the messengers of our Lord did bring the truth.' And it is cried to them: 'This is your Paradise; you have inherited it for what you used to do"(Al-A'raf 7:43).

Hadith About Death

Prophet Muhammad (saw)[peace be upon him] said, "When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their foot steps, two angles come to him and make him sit and ask him: 'What did you use to say about this man, Muhammad ?' He will say: 'I testify that he is Allah's slave and His Apostle.' Then it will be said to him, 'Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.'" Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him added, "The dead person will see both his places. But a non believer or hypocrite will say to the angle, 'I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, 'Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Quran).' Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns." (Suhih Bukhari 2:2422)

Importance Of Jummah Prayer

Jummah prayer or Friday congregational prayer:

You might hear many modernists say that the Quran does not mention anything about Friday congregational prayer. But they are wrong. They say this because they read the Quran without understanding it, or by purposely distorting the translations.

"O we who believe! When the call is heard for the prayer of the day of congregation, haste unto remembrance of Allah and leave your trading. That is better for you if we did but know."[62:9](Surah Al-Jumu'ah)

As we can see ourselves, in the above Verse the Noble Quran doesn't only refer to the Jummah prayer but also gives a lot of importance to it. The Arabic word "Jumu'ah" or :Jumm'ah" means 'congregation'. This congregational prayer is offered once a week in the afternoon and it replaces the regular Zohr(or Dohr) prayer offered on other days. It's known as salaat-al-Jummah. It comes on the day known as 'Friday' in the list of the 7 christian week names.

The Jummah prayer is an obligation (fard) for men and is recommended for women to be performed at a mosque along with the congregation (Jamm'ah or jamm'at). Women also have the option of performing the Zohr prayer instead, either privately or in a mosque. Anyone who is unable to join a congregation for jumm'ah is required to make up the prayer with a regular Zohr prayer. The purpose of this weekly congregational prayer is to give believers a chance to offer prayer together once a week, so that they can see and meet the people of their community at a common venue. And indeed the masjid is the best common venue for believer.

For Muslims living in the West it might be harder to attend congregational prayer in the afternoon, even though it's only once a week, primarily because of the long distances, the absense of masjids in all neighborhoods and no additional breaks on Friday at workplaces. That's indeed unfortunate. But let such folks try to attend the Friday prayers to the best of their abilities. After all, Allah sees our efforts and intentions a lot more than what we actually achieve. He is infinitely Merciful.

The method of offering Jummah prayer is exactly the same as all other prayers, except that it's shorter than the regular Zohr prayer and consists of only 2 rakats like the Fajr prayer. The Jummah prayer is preceded by a sermon known as "Khutba" in Arabic. The sermon can be in any language which is understood by majority in the congregation.

By reading Verse 62:11 of the same Surah Al-Jumm'ah, it seems very possible that the system of delivering the khutba (sermon) was done by the Prophet (SAW).

"But when they spy some merchandise or pastime they break away to it and leave thee standing. Say : That which Allah hath is better than pastime and than merchandise, and Allah is the Best of providers." [62:11](Surah Al-Jumm'ah)

The above Verse is said to refer to an incident when the Prophet (saw) was explaining and talking to the people of congregation during the Jummah prayer (which was very likely the sermon) when most people of this congregation got distracted by the noise of celebration going on outside and ran to see it, leaving the Prophet (SAW) by himself.

Hadeeth About Peace

The teachings of the Prophet (saw) on how you and I should treat our Non-Muslim friends and neighbours on a day to day basis as well as how to government should treat a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state.

"He who believes in God and the Last Day should honour his guest, should not harm his neighbour, should speak good or keep quite." (Bukhari, Muslim)

"Whoever hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys Allah." (Bukhari)

"He who hurts a Non-Muslim citizen of Muslim state, I am his adversary, and I shall be his adversary on the Day of a Judgement."(Bukhari)

"Beware on the Day of Judgement; I shall myself be complainant against him who wrongs a Non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim state or lays on him a responsibility greater than he can bear or deprives him of anything that belongs to him."(Al-Mawardi)

"Anyone who kills a Non-Muslim who had become our ally will not smell the fragrance of Paradise."(Bukhari)

The Meaning Of Jihad

Within Islam the term jihad refers to a large category of meanings. Today, however, there are attempts to isolate this term to only one form of jihad to the exclusion of all others. This includes a conception of jihad that at best refers only to armed struggle, and at worst to a barbaric form of warfare that seeks to destroy whatever peace may still remain in the world. This could not be farther from the concept of jihad as understood by Muslims throughout history and the world over. For Muslims, jihad is much more than armed struggle against an enemy from the outside for it includes constant struggle within both oneself and one's own society. When Jihad actually does take the form of armed struggle, Muslims are aware that it can only be done for the sake of a just cause.

Once upon returning from a battle, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said to his companions, "We have returned from the lesser Jihad to the greater Jihad; the Jihad of the soul." Here the term Jihad refers to the spiritual exercise of opposing the lower self. This referred to as the greater Jihad since people spend their lives struggling against the base desires within them that can harm both themselves and those around them.

Jihad is also used to refer to the pilgrimage to Mecca. When Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (SAW), was asked about the Jihad of women, she said, "Your Jihad is to make the pilgrimage." Here the pilgrimage is the lesser Jihad of women and the elderly who are not members of the armies that fight in defense of the country, so pilgrimage, which is a journey that is comprised of great difficulties due to the crowds and the physically demanding nature of its practices, is called Jihad. The term Jihad is also used to refer to speaking truth to those in power, so in Islam government oversight is a form of Jihad.

In addition to these meanings, the term Jihad refers to the defense of a nation or a just cause. This is what Jihad was legislated for, and it must be differentiated from indiscriminate killing by the condition that it be "in the way of God" meaning to struggle in self-defense, to alleviate tyranny, or to prevent aggression. These are the characteristics that differentiate Jihad from killing, which is a crime. These characteristics that amount to "in the way of God" are summed up in the Quran, " Fight in the way of God against those who wage war against you, but do not commit aggression - for, verily, God does not love aggressors," [Quran, 2:190]. This verse summarizes everything that has been agreed upon concerning guidelines of warfare, including the first and second Geneva Conventions.

As for suicide bombing, Islam forbids the taking of one's life. Ind addition, Islam forbids aggression against others. Attacking civilians, women, children and the elderly by blowing oneself up is absolutely forbidden in Islam. No excuse can be made for the crimes committed in New York, Spain and London and anyone who tries to make excuses for these acts is ignorant of Islamic law (shari'ah), and their excuses are a results of extremism and ignorance.
